About The Event
Set in 1940s pastoral Britain, the show is a hilarious wartime farce, with plenty of heart. The cast includes comedy legend Caroline Quentin and Strictly Come Dancing winner Kelvin Fletcher.
It’s written by Richard Bean (One Man, Two Guvnors) and Oliver Chris (Twelfth Night), and directed by Emily Burns (The Comeback), the play is a vibrant and entertaining reimagining of Sheridan’s The Rivals.
After an aerial dogfight, Pilot Officer Jack Absolute flies home to win the heart of his old flame, Lydia Languish. Back on British soil, Jack’s advances soon turn to anarchy when the young heiress demands to be loved on her own, very particular, terms.
★★★★★‘An enormously loveable show’ - Sunday Times
